Time for me to jump up and staunchly disagree with you on two points
which you are dead wrong.
Point #1: Crossposting does not have a single thing to do with spam
directly and certainly not this post in particular. What it does
represent is a user that is too lazy to post the item in the
appropriate NG(s) and a lack of understanding of the negative
implications that crossposting invites. Such as the unwanted
followups in unrelated and unsuspecting groups. Or the followup in
one group in the thread that never gets seen by the others it could
have been valuable to. Plus the little fact that _actual_ "spam
farmers" who are parsing some groups for e-mail addresses and you end
up getting on a spam list for having your e-mail address peeled out of
a reply to a crossposted thread. Me personally, I use a reader that
alerts me to crossposts so I am not subject to this last part like a
lot of people who use browsers for NGs.

He was being a smartass to your post which was basically whining and
not being constructive to the offending poster anyways.

Point #2: This would be nice but there were the words "for sale" in
the subject line. Now if this is too tough to figure out, I don't
know what else to tell you. Bottom line if they post in the subject
line, a) the item in question, and b) FS, FA, or spell out for sale or
for auction and you are not interested... move along.
As for the saying something is for sale when it is up for auction
thing... there's a judgement call. If you think about it, something
up for auction is truly up for sale as well... to the highest bidder.
Not a whole lot of deception involved there as you are content on
implying.
You are so against ebay and auctions I can help but wonder how badly
you got screwed, or on how many deals to make you feel this way. I
have had nothing but great experiences and purchased some killer stuff
through ebay that would have otherwise been unavailable.
