Nitro Sport easy start gears stripping

Nitro Sport easy start gears stripping

Post by Joe » Fri, 23 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I keep stripping the nylon gears in the easy start gearbox.  I've had the
Nitro Sport for a week and have gone through 3 sets, yes the beige colour
ones.  I have no problem with the store replacing them for free, but it's
just a big pain in the ass.  Is there not an aluminum set on the market?
I'm sure Traxxas would have adressed this problem by now as I don't think
I'm the only one having this prob.
Thanks

Your overall starting system is either defective, or you are trying to start
the engine while it's flooded.
Liquid doesn't compress, and if the piston can't move, then something has
got to give, in this case it's your starter gear.
What you have is called hydrolock.  Get someone to help show you how to tune
& maintain your engine.
I, along with several friends, have never stripped a gear or cracked a
one-way bearing in the easy-start systems.
