Im been having a problem with my GT's gears for some time but now its become
more of a problem than ever. Im pretty sure that the space between the gears is
correct and the chassis cannot be flexing because the gears always strip when
the car is stoped and resting with the brake on. Today soon after my second
gear stripped I touched the clutch bell and noticed that it was very hot. More
hot than the engine heatsink! So, I have come to the conclusion that the reason
the gears strip is because the hot clutch bell melts the gear while the car is
stoped, not because of chassi flex. Is this correct? If so how can I fix this?
Ive thought about getting a steel spur but the guy at the hobby shop said it
would make things worse, even though gears a 4 bucks each.

I've noticed that this is the result of over/under gearing. This was
happening alot when my friend had DS gears on his GT. What spur/bell are you
running? Also with what motor?

66 tooth spur and stock clutch bell, whatever it is.

You might want to put the mip 4 in 1 clutch on there. I put it on mine
and noticed that the clutch bell did not heat up as much. I susspect
that you cut the stock clutch shooes too much and the clutch is slipping
excessively. You could just get stock shoes again but the mip is a good
clutch and can be set up in different ways.

If you still have problems then I would have to say that your motor is
loosening up and moving around or you problem is really a flex problem.
If you do come to the conclusion that your problem is flex I have a part

Been there, done that. Your idle is too high and your brakes too tight.

Loosen the brake. Start the truck and watch how fast it goes! Lower your
idle (just above stall point) then set your brakes.
