Cleaning solution - Methyl Hydrate as a cleaning solution?

Post by Joh » Fri, 12 May 2000 04:00:00

I've got a rathar abundant supply of 99.5% pure Methyl Hydrate *** here.
So, I was wondering if it is suitable for cleaning my RC10GT with, instead of
denatured ***, of which I have a limited supply (before I need to buy
more).  Specifically, I'm most concerned with it damaging plastics.  I've got
an old plastic parts tree soaking in it now, and so far no damage, so I think
it's ok.  However, I'm not one to take chances so I'd like to hear about
anyone's experience with it.

So denatured is different from Methyl Hydrate?  I always wondered about
that.  I've never seen denatured *** on the shelf in Canada.

PS, I do use methyl hydrate *** (and a toothbrush) to clean
everything on my cars, it hasn't hurt anything yet.

I just use Isopropyl Alcool and a denture brush. Whatever else I cant get
off, or get at. I use an air-compressor and blow the ***outa the whole
thing. Everything looks show-room finish after the air-compressor is done
with it.. :)
