I just got a nitro Rustler. It is the best damn R/C truck I ever saw.

Its interesting to read this thread as I have just came back from a 7-8 year
absence from R/C cars.  Back in 1990-91 Traxxas was a young company whose
products were considered a step above Tyco. It sure looks like they have
come a long way with their products...some of which look on the cutting edge
of the recreational market (ie TMAXX).

I thinks its pretty cool....anyone here remember the early honda civics or
hyundai pony's to hit the north american market...kind of a similar story
(In case you don't...everone thought the Honda Civic was the absolute worst
car they had ever seen...and look at Honda now).

Which company makes a better product Traxxas or Duratrax? Any help would be

Hey I was looking at traxxas. Iam also considering RC10GT. Any thoughts?

Eveyone seems to be dogging the ez start system, but i like it. My rustler
starts right up , no problems what so ever. Its hard to start if its flooded
(in which case i take out the glow plug, flip the car over, run the ez start
for a sec to get the gas out and replace the glow plug, starts right up) the
one call i did put into traxxas tech support was great, they seemed to want
to do whatever it was to make me happy. The prices i thought seemed to be
fair as well. I have beat on it now for almost 2 months, many crashed dents
and scrapes and it still goes strong.

 I don't know about Duratrax products but I love my Nitro Rustler. Matter of
fact, I have 2 nitro Rustlers and a nitro Stampede and I just got a RC10gt but
the Rustlers my favorite so far.

 The Rustler cooks with the right setup!!

what are you running on your rustler? I got a mip pipe which made a big
difference and some new tires.

 It depends on what you want to do with the truck.
 If you want to assemble a truck and race it on a track then the RC10gt is the
ticket.
 If you want to grab some batteries and fuel and race around the backyard or
gravel pit somewhere then the nitro Rustler or Stampede is for you.

 What I'm tring to say is if you hit a tree near top speed with the GT you'll
most likely bend the frame, brake a engine mount or two and other stuff.
 If you hit the same tree at the same MPH as the GT with the n.Rustler you'll
probably pop a front shock apart, brake a caster block or just knock the dirt
off the tires.

 Personally, the GT hasn't impressed me at all yet except for the OS engine.
With a few mods the OS.12 is just as quick as my Pro.15s

 In my opinion, both trucks are good at what they are designed for.

 I run the pipe too but I've opened up the header considerably and the exhaust
outlet, I did a few mods inside the engine too.  I run soft compound tires and
put bearing everywhere possible.  Bearings in the steering blocks made a huge
difference with the 25 degree caster blocks. Good set of servos help too.
 7 out of 10 times I rock the GTs on my track but I think it was more tires and
 torque then driver skills.

I have the Maximum BX and am very satisfied.  I on the other hand, have not
had the opportunity to run the Traxxas but am very interested in a boot with
it.  The BX with the Torq.12 motor really motors along and the suspension is
amazing.

You will have to keep an eye out on the posting as RJDufour has purchased a
BX to compare to the Nitro Stampede:

"Just ordered it today....got it shipped 2 day ground so will have it
thursday....anyway i will compare it to my nitro stampede and post a
review....i also emailed duratrax about a tuned pipe and I will forward
that to you. Thanks"

It seams to me you are comapre two different type cof cars
the BX is a Buggy the Rustler is a stadium truck

I have a Maximum ST (stadium truck) and I have an electric rustler

I like both trucks But I do find the Duratrax to be a Better built
Truck. For starters the Durtrax Main chasis is aluminum  were the
rustler is Plastic (this is true on the Nitro too) the Parts are a lot
easyer to get too.  the Traxxas does come with a tuned pipe which the
duratrax is lacking. go back a couple of months ago and RCCA did a RTR
Nitro Trucj Shoot out , and the duratax Came in  first

Just My thoughts

Either way they are both Fun trucks , and I doubt you'll be
disapointed with either

 Your half right...Traxxas calls it a tuned pipe but It's not nearly as good as
any I've used.

How many do you have ?  is the aluminun on true for the nitro ?
I know both my electrics (rustler and stampede  ) are plastic
   I 've herd that before about ther e tuned pipe , But hey at least
it looks the part

Oh yes , I'm an ***  :-) and prod of it!  

I have 2 Nitro Rustlers and a Nitro Stampede, all have aluminum chassis with a
plastic looking top plate.

 I've hit a tree near top speed a couple times with little damage and the same
tree has jamed up 3 rc10-gts pretty bad.

ps....There is a couple tricks to get the stock Traxxas tuned pipe to perform
much better.
