Wanted: Sources for Art Glass in the Dallas Area

Post by Lynnette Oles » Thu, 11 Jul 1996 04:00:00

I live in the Dallas area. Recently, another "source" of art glass
went out of business: Christine's "Forte in Glass"  at Campbell &
Coit.

I think selecting the glass is one of the most important processes of
a project, and would like viable alternatives to Kittrell & Rifkind
at Village on the Parkway and mail-order. The glass packs in mail
order seem hit-and-miss. And Kittrell's does not always have a large
enough selection in what I am looking for...  There is one store on
Independence in Plano --- frankly, I was *not* impressed. Poor
selection and slightly higher prices.... I hear there is one store
in Frisco; anybody been there ? What's in Fort Worth ?

Is it possible to get samples of glass packs before ordering ? Is
ordering glass through a store more expensive ?

Any other suggestions ? ....you know, it really limits your artistic
expression to have to "settle" for less than what you envisioned.
I have taken as long as one year to select glass for a project. I
held my breath while cutting it, too. ;^D

Try ordering direct from the factory.  Sample packs are always random,
but at least then you could call them and ask for something LIKE this
sample, but in orange, etc.

I get all my glass etc at Arlington Stained Glass on Secretary Drive
in Arlington... They have a large selection of glass and any tools or
other supplies you might need... I sure mail order is cheaper but as
you said your never sure what your going to end up with....

If you find any other good places around town tho lemme know...

I buy my glass at Merry Go Round Stained Glass on Lackland near
Ridgemar Mall. They carry mostly stained glass supplies but also have
a smattering of lampworking supplies.

Hope this helps
