The easiest way to do what you're wanting to do is to aquire a glass grinder
or router. This is a self-cooling (water) device that can hold a variety of
diamond-coated bits. The hollow-cored bit mentioned earlier has an equivalent in the
router world. YOu're probably looking at around $125 or so. If this is too much then you can create a
wax or clay "dam" around the place you want the hole, fill it with water, and use
a glass bit to slowly work your way through the glass. Remember, when
dealing with glass the watch-words are "slow" and "careful".
