Kim Osibin and Leah Fairbanks are teaching "Bead Camp" again!  Beginning
to Intermediate Beadmaking is July 14 thru 18th.  Advanced Beadmaking is
July 21 - 25th.  Five days each of beadmaking from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm!  It
was my "turning point" in my beadmaking career.  The workshops are held at
the Mendocino Art Center in Mendocino CA - about 4 hours north of San
Francisco, on the sunny California Coast.  The town is the setting of
Jessica's home in the *** She Wrote series.  The cost for either
workshop is $230 to non members, and $200 to members (plus a materials and
propane fee $100).  Membership is $40 - BUT it allows you discounts at the
gallery store, on other classes, as well as a quarterly newsletter.  Kim
and Leah keep the class down to 12 students, in a large room - and they
give fantastic demos and then individual instruction.  They even offer
open torch time in the eves if you want to bead all night (well, at least
until the assigned monitor poops out and decides to lock up!  Call the art
center for more info (800) 653-3328.  While you're there, you can see
other workshops in progress, and there's a Tue night potluck dinner where
all the instructors show slides and talk about their work. There's usually
a couple of great exhibits going on.  For housing, there's camping in the
area, as well as shared dormitory rooms at the center, and bed &
breakfasts in the area.  It's a georgeous area to take walks on the cliffs
above the Mendocino Headlands, or on the beach below the town, or through
the 4 main streets that make up the town (filled with cute shops and yummy
restaurants).
