Where did my post go?

Post by Dwayne & Shirle » Thu, 26 Feb 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

I posted about mosaic ideas a few days ago (Sunday the 22nd??) and it is
not showing up, along with about 200 other posts that were here that
day. Where did they all go??

Just to let you know most ISPs have an expire time for newsarticles on
their newsservers. If it has been a while since you last read news it may
have hit the expire time. I know my newsserver is set for about 3-4 days
but not all the groups are that way. If you lost them you may be able to
find them on DeJaNews(spelling?). My husband is the systems administrator
for my ISP so I probably know more about computers than is normal.

Good luck finding them.

Sometimes I've posted messages that I don't see for three days, but
responses show up on the group and in my e-mail box long before that!

Sometimes, rarely, I never see the post, but still get responses.

I saw your mosaic post--have you seen it yet?

I'm trying to NOT get the ng messages in my e-mail box - I only get this one
and the beads ng there.  Since you get messages there, do you have any idea how
NOT to get them?

Aaaaargh!

Oops--I guess I didn't say that clearly.  What I get, sometimes, are
e-mail *responses* to my posted messages, not every message from
everyone!

About last week I saw a message from the founder of this newsgroup
(can't think of his name at the moment) in which he gave an address to
subscribe to an e-mail list for receiving all this newsgroup messages
by e-mail.  Did you, by any chance, sign up for that list?  If you see
his name turn up again (he usually takes care of the spam messages),
ask him about it--I'm sure he has a way to unsubscribe.

What is the return address for the messages you get?  Maybe you are
subscribed to the PolymerArts list. (?)  The messages from the
PolymerArts list each has a footer that gives you addresses for
contacting the list owner for information.

Good luck!

Contact the keeper of your news server (Hughes.net?)  They probably
FLUSH all posts from the newsgroups on Sunday night.  Some providers
flush daily based on the age of the post or the maximum number of
posts/newsgroup.  In any case it is a systems manager that has the power
-- maybe if you ask nicely they'll change the policy to something more
useful to you -- the user.

Please tell me what type of list this is. Is it all things pertaining
only to polymer clay? Do people ask or answer questions there if you are
on the list?

TIA

Yes.  It's a lot like the newsgroup, except the "group" is much smaller and
it all comes to your email box.  Lots of sharing and questions answered.
Only on a smaller and more intimate scale than the newsgroup.

It's very much like this group, not so much to wade through--ranges
from just a couple of messages a day to maybe a dozen, depending on
the topic.  Doesn't swamp your mailbox like some lists.  Very helpful
people on it.

There.  Your questions answered?  I hope so!  Come ahead!  Join!

Where did my post go?

We are trying to get a mold to setup in the time span of 10 to 15 min.  We have
tried commercial products (called clays with quartz) and they set up with a
beautiful sharpness but the water comes out after  setting.  What we need is an
environmentally safe material that can be mixed with water poured into the mold
and sets up with a sharp flat bottom with no lumps.  The containers are Pyrex
glass.  Can you help?  We are experimenting with numerous materials.  Thank
you.

The only casting media I can think of is a two part silacone molding media. I
will need to get to the office and check on the address.

The company I am talking about offers a host of different molding mixtures.

A couple of questions.

What size of a mold are you making?
how delicate do you need the mold to be and how delicute and breakable is the
master?

You might be needing to make a hard master using a thin very soft and flexable
mold  and then a harder mold.

Or place the thin soft mold into a harder stiffer outter holding form/mold.
