City Zen Cane is giving a poly clay workshop at the Newark Museum in Newark,
NJ on Sun., Nov. 23 from 10 AM to 4 PM. They will focus on color theories and
scale considerations, and also more sophisticated problems such as finishes
and combining materials. They will be teaching some canes called Deco Step,
Ikat, New Quilt and Zipper. It is for students who have some experience
working w/ poly clay and are comfortable mixing large amounts of clay. The
cost is $90, but you get a 10% discount if you are a new to the arts workshops
at the museum. The museum is located at 49 Washington St. in Newark, NJ. The
phone #s are (973) 596-6550 and (973) 596-6607 (i'm not sure which is the # to
call to reserve a space for the class).
Anyways, the reason I'm posting this is that I signed up for this class a
while ago; and today I was going to get the supplies from the supply list for
the course. The list said that before you purchase any of the materials, you
should call the museum to make sure that the class is still scheduled to run.
I expected there to be no problem, but I was told that they still need a few
more people to join the class in order to have the minimum amount required! I
was also told that if I knew of any people who would be interested in taking
the course who aren't already signed up, I should talk to them and try to
"persuade them" to come. So, I decided to post here to inform all of you about
it in the hopes that a few more people will sign up for the class. I really
hope that some more people sign up for it- I've really been looking forward to
attending!! If you have any q.'s about it, you can email me or contact the
Thanks for your time! I hope to see some of you there!
