Ott Lighting...again!

Post by LOIS0 » Sat, 18 Jul 1998 04:00:00

I might have missed previous posts that answer my questions ......Is there a
benefit to buying an Ott Lamp vs. an Ott lightbulb ( and using my own lamp )?
I went to Builders Square ( St. Louis ) and they sold only  bulbs and tubes so
I wasn't able to look at the construction of the lamp itself.  Is there a
specific wattage recommended for close-in work ?  On a less technical
note....does this lighting help with eyestrain, headaches etc...?  I think I'm
just trying to avoid my eye doctor!!!  Any other information would be terrific!

( just don't tell me I Ott to get one !! )<ggg>

Lois asked about the Ott Light vs Ott Bulb question

Yes, the Ott Lamp has a white background that reflects the bulb's
brightness.  I don't know of too many lamps that fold open to a 90-degree
angle--the bulbs are actually rectangular in shape.
There may be "off brands" that are similar--if that is the case, the buld
would probably work.  The bulb appears to be about 6 1/2" long.

The Ott products are fully described at this site

I'm interested in these also and would like to hear about any of you who have made
an investment in these lights.
Thanks
Bette

I am interested in hearing from anyone that has used the Ott light:

I love my Ott light. I have the true color one and it really does give
me the true color of whatever I have under it.
I am convinced that it is the reason that I am able to work with the
size 15 and smaller seed beads. I can't work without it now as nothing
seems to give off as much light.
The best thing is that it's portable and easy to take with you wherever
you want as it doesn't take up much space...extremely handy.
  Hope this helps,
  Meredith
