I have plenty of personal news that I want to share with you. After all you
are the reason to most of my polyclay news, you have kept me interested and
alive when I was "a newbie from desert". You were the ones that teached me
everything, so I, once again, thank you for that.
So here is what I have to tell you.
I finally had the courage to contact the other of our two national crafting
magazines and offered to write them an article about polyclays. The first
reaction was not so enthuastic, but as they are the main importer of
polyclays in Finland, I soon ensured them this is what might be worth it.
So they jumped into my offer, and let me write a long article (10 pages
with size 10 font !) about using polyclay in crafting. I designed four
projects to them; picture frames made with stamping the clay and then
painting them, a necklace made from pieces that had been made from self
made molds (fish bone), postcards made with photocopy transfers and "mix
in" pins made with polyclay and mosaic pieces.
It does not seem like a great amount of work, but I soon found out the hard
way that we do not have the words for polyclaying in Finnish language. So I
spent most of my last month trying to find out a way to speak polyclay in
Finnish language. I never would have assumed I was this English- orientated
in my crafting although I nowadays keep my crafting notes in English.
Anyway I did manage to write a "Finnish faq" type of article. It is going
to be in two different numbers of that mag. so this is huge thing both for
me and to Finnish polyclayers, where ever they are.
The second good news are that I am going to go to keep my first proper
"polyclay demonstration" in a local craft shop in 24th of this month. They
wanted me to make some instructions for fathers day project, and they loved
my polyclay pens (which are awful comparing to most polypens I have seen,
but the best ones here... ) and want them. They will not pay me for that,
but they let me do two things that make this whole thing worth it: I can
sell my jewellery there (hooray !) and I can leave my name and contact
information to every paper I am going to give them. So naturally I am going
to write a brief faq about using polyclays to them and let them copy that
and do the "advertising" for me. Really cheep adverti***t, after all it
is going to go to people who are interested about polyclays at the first
place. And, as the keeper of that shop is a jewel and a really nice person,
she sold me with similar deal to three other shops in their chain too.
Now I am hoping this will bring me enough contacts to start some kind of
Finnish national polyclay guild. I sure would love that. And, even in the
worst case, I will find some real polyclayers from Finland. As you know I
have been trying to find them for a long time now.
And, if that is not enough for being a happy one, I have to tell you one
more personal thing. This has nothing to do with polyclay, but... I am
finally pregnant !!! This is my first baby and it all is very confusing and
odd, jet still wonderful. We are both OK, although there has been some
problems in the past. But now everything seems to be OK, she/he is moving
like a small frog inside of me, and I try not to be too scared of every
little wink I feel :-)
The due day is 18th of March, and I cant wait to hold this baby in my
arms. We have tried to have him/her for so many years that this is really
more than unbelievable. I still have problems believing the thing...
But, with all this happening, I have been and am really tired, so if you
have not gotten answers to your emails this has something to do with that.
I just have to sleep twice as much as I used to. But I have not forgotten
any of you, neither am not trying to cut you out of my life, I just am so
slow these days... I will get back to you, eventually, just try to bare my
silence if you happen to be the object of that.

If I would have to choose between polyclay and chocolate
I would take polyclay.
