Press Mold Release Agent

Press Mold Release Agent

Hi, y'all;

I'm new to this list.  Glad to find it!  First, I wonder if someone

needed to join the email list(s).

I have been trying to find a mold release agent for very simple press
molds that is quick to apply, does not need to be applied with each
impression and won't affect the piece adverseley with minimal time spent
on removal after baking.  I'd like to hear what any of you have used
successfully.  Because there is little detail in the impressions I make,
I have been using Saran wrap which works quite well in most cases; I am
not pleased with the occasional wrinkle it creates on the surface.  I do
lose a little detail which I'd like to recover via another means of
release.  By the way; the press molds are machined impressions in brass
which might make some possibility enlighten some one.

Thanks!

To prevent clay from sticking to push molds, Marie Segal from the Clay
Factory suggests spraying the mold occasionally with Armor All protectant
and wiping out the excess. You can find it in auto supply departments.

There is more information in my Push Molds FAQ at
http://www.angelslanding.com/pushmolds/faq.html . Although it refers to
resin molds, most of the tips also apply to brass molds and press molds you
make yourself.
