Coffee cans

Coffee cans

OK, saw this at a yard sale today. The ultimate use for coffee cans:
Make them into a footstool. Take four large cans, cover each with
thick upholstery fabric (glued on), then glue them together in a
diamond or square shape, like this:

oo
oo

Or like this:

  o
o   o   (but tight together; gotta love ascii)
  o

Trace the top or bottom (will look roughly like a four-leafed clover)
onto same fabric for the top, leaving an extra inch or two extra all
around. Get some cushion stuffing (or nylons, to be truly frugal) for
the bouncy part where feet will rest.  Trim the top-side edge with
some matching border-stuff (lace, or piping, or specially-made pillow
fringe stuff).

Trust me, it was really pretty. I haven't tried it, but I can probably
work up a slightly better description if the above is completely
unclear.
