Glad to hear from you, Lise! Just today I was at a brand new mall in our
area, visiting a Christmas store. I overheard a customer ask the saleswoman
about personalizing ornaments and she said they had someone to do it but
didn't know when she would be by. So I opened up my mouth, that I did
calligraphy, and asked if they needed someone else to help out. I will
bring a sample business type card by tomorrow. In the meantime, the
customer wanted my name and number! There are opportunities everywhere, if
you listen for them. I'm just e***d to do it, making any money at the same
time is icing on the cake.
I taught myself, too. What sources did you use and how long have you been
doing calligraphy? I mostly do poems with a little artwork on them, but
have done a variety of things.
Have you visited the Calligraphy Ring? I have shared this with a few people
who have e-mailed me. The address is:
Start there and follow the webring. There are some fine pieces on some of
those pages and it is inspiring to see other's work.
