Hi there. Does anyone know if there are universities/colleges anywaher
in the world that offer courses concentrating on calligraphy &/or
book arts?  I am interested in all the practical hands on knowledge
thatt a person would need to make manuscripts or handmade books...
Has anyone got any ideas of where I could look for this?

Thanks for any help I get in advance...
Katie.

You might want to post this question to comp.fonts where you will find
many very knowledgable people on this subject.  I once heard that Reed
(Oregon?) offers courses in Calligraphy.  And then of course there is
the premiere School of Book Arts - Rochester Institute of Technology,
School of Printing Management and Sciences, Rochester, New York.  Try
contacting Archie Provan, professor and Director of The Goudy Center
for Font Technology and Aesthetics.  716-475-2052
