Leather crafter's mailing list anyone?!?!

Leather crafter's mailing list anyone?!?!

Post by Gregory Ga » Mon, 20 Nov 1995 04:00:00

Greetings!

My name is Greg Gaub and I am a leather crafter.
I do not consider myself a professional by any means, but I believe I am
quickly working my way past amateur status.

The reason I am sending you this message is to ask if you would like to
participate in a mailing list related to leather crafting and
"southwestern" art.
Unfortunately there seems to be a shortage of leather crafters in the
world. Leather crafters on the internet are ten times as scarce.

My plan is to compile a list of willing participants. Participants in the
list would create a "nickname" in their e-mail program called "leather",
or something similar, composed off all the participants. When one person
has a question, comment, event, or news that s/he feels the rest of the
participant should know about, s/he would send an e-mail message to the
list via their "nickname" of the list.

If you would like more information or further explanation of the concept,
I would be happy to converse with you by e-mail or even by phone if you wish.

The list is actually quite small at this point, and that is why I am
actively seeking participants. I would greatly appreciate your
participation in this "experiment" as would the other participants.
I am also investigating the creation of a traditional mailing list that
could be signed on to or off of and sent to with a single, simple e-mail
address, thus allowing those without the ability to create "nicknames" to
participate easily in the list.

I have created and maintained a World Wide Web page
(http://www.peak.org/~flux/flux/leather.html) with a request of
interested visitors to also join the list.

I also request that you ask others you think might be interested to join
the list. Soon the list will be big enough to warrant a full fledged
mailing list!

I know I have not sold the idea very well. I am not much of a salesman.
It would cost nothing and but can provide a wealth of knowledge, even
friendship.

Please consider my proposal and send me a reply as soon as you can!

Sincerely,
Greg Gaub

Mark,

I assume you meant to have a message of some kind included here.
I had this kind of problem with my newsgroup reply/posting a while ago
too, so don't worry about it.

Let me know your thoughts on the mailing list.
Would you like to participate?

Thanks for responding to my post!
Greg
