Does ***ia really administer a mailing list?  I've seen lots of people
post "add me to the mailing list" messages, but I've never seen a post
that said there was actually a mailing list.  And usually, you can't join
a mailing list just by posting a "me too, I want the mailing list"
message in a newsgroup; you have to send e-mail to an actual mailing list
address.  Perhaps I missed something here -- I hope so -- but I suspect
that a lot of people have been wasting their time posting these requests
to this newsgroup, and I hate to see that happen.

I enjoyed ***ia's instructions too and I'd love to join such a mailing
list.  But does this list actually exist?  If it does, then I'm sure
someone who reads this newsgroup must belong to it, and surely lots of
people here would appreciate you posting information on how to join it.

But if it doesn't actually exist, then a lot of people are going to be
disappointed by thinking that they can post a "please add me" message to
this newsgroup and then nothing happens.

If this mailing list actually exists, please, someone post the particulars.
If no one posts, I suspect that's good evidence it doesn't exist.

                                     Wishing talented ***ia well whatever
                                     the situation is,
                                     Cheryl

I miss ***ia's post: they were the reason because I started reading
this list and their lack is pushing me to abandon it.

My vote to a list devoted to instructions on how to make crafts, if
it will ever born. In the meanwhile, please count me in the e-mail
distribution of ***ia's idea, if she is generously willing to
share them with us !

Francesca

P.S. It's curious that ***ia was flamed for flooding this list with
her posts, and we are now flooding it with so many 'count me in', 'add
my name', and 'V. mailing list'...-)))))

Yeah, well, I pointed that out to the individual responsible for the
attack.  Basically, what she had to say to me was "Don't you kids have
anything better to do" and "get a life".

I think that having another list for instructions and patterns is a
good idea.  I'm not sure what to do about it.  Due to the nature of
my participation on Usenet, I'm not an appropriate person to take the
Call for Votes or post a Request for Discussion.  If someone else out
there would be interested in doing this, you could check out the
group news.admin.misc: Chris Lewis and Mark Moraes post a lot of FAQs
there that deal with this sort of thing.

BTW, I posted this yesterday, but if you're interested in a pattern
for a beaded eagle feather, Betty Pego posted one to rec.crafts.beads
recently.  (Interestingly, she doesn't seem to think there's anything
hypocritical about flaming ***ia for posting instructions, then
posting some herself.)

In the meantime, before another group (or if another group) is formed
for patterns, my suggestion is for folks to request and post them here.
Out of respect for those with broken newsreaders, it might be polite to
post them one or two a day, so as not to swamp those who don't want them.
It sure would be nice for those of us who *do* want them, though: we
could slowly build our collections of neat patterns/instructions.

I was wondering when someone was going to comment... I've taken the lack
of flamage to indicate that Betty et alia have stopped reading the forum.

On the other hand, they might be not complaining just because to do so would
risk ticking off the what, 100+ people now?  Heh.

I'd've said something, but since I didn't know who was keeping the list until
Rachel spoke up, there didn't seem to be much point.  I *was* getting kind of
worried that NO one was and that the names were all scrolling off into the
aether (and my capture files, so I knew at least SOMEONE had them) for no
reason.  Of course, I've stopped capturing stuff for the most part since
there aren't that many long instructions.  I'd definitely vote for a separate
list (I suggested it waaay back when, but it got lost in the flames), but I'm
not sure we have enough volume now to justify it, unfortunately.

It shows that the common interest of those reading the group should outweight
those of one twit who doesn't know how press an extra key or 2 to go to the
next messege.

*sigh*

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this...I just know it...

For the record: to my knowledge (and that might be wrong), there were three
people who expressed concerns about ***ia's postings. They were Betty,
myself, and one other person whose name I forget. Not one of us actually
flamed ***ia--we all merely asked if such a volume of long postings over
such a short period of time was wanted. When it became clear that people
did want such postings, I acquiesced. I even wrote to ***ia asking if I
could help her to come up with a way to ease the transmission of
information without stepping on anyone's toes. She never answered.

As for flaming, the flames came mostly from a certain person on AOL whose
name is now in my killfile. And she was flaming in response to some very
innocent questions.

So, if anyone deserves an apology, it is Betty, who has had to bear the
brunt of the hate postings on this newsgroup.

To anyone who cares to flame me on this, get the facts straight. And, if
I'm wrong, *THEN* you can flame me. But I don't think I am.

'Nuff said.
