Need iron-on transfers for laser printers

Post by Mike Feen » Mon, 10 May 1993 12:26:17

Does anybody know if it is possible to make iron-on
transfers for t-shirts with a laser printer?

If so, is special paper or toner required?

Any help and advice that you can provide is
        appreciated!

        Thanks in advance!

This is really strange, Mike....

Apparently you just need special toner cartridges, and someone is selling a
complete color set of them under the newsgroup ne.forsale. I was just reading
about it a few minutes ago. You might want to check it out.

You can use ordinary paper and toner to make a transfer, since the toner
is set by heat - just put the paper image-side-down on the fabric and
press with a hot iron. The image will be reversed, so you may want to
use a mirror image on the paper to produce a right-way-round one on the
fabric.

Apart from this, you can get special toner cartridges to make iron-on
transfers. There was some discussion of this in alt.sewing last year.
Try asking there.

I remember hearing something about this, it is a toner cart you have to buy.
Check out graphic arts catalogs or mayby school supply.

Yes, you can make a transfer out of a regular laser print, but there are
toner cartridges sold for this purpose.  I have a whole catalog from the
mfgr somewhere--the guy has advertised his newsletter and books on the
net.  Send me email to remind me and I'll find and post the info.
