Question about decoupage or 3d picture making

Post by Terri » Sat, 09 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Hi,

I am trying to find a newsgroup or people that do 3d-decoupage or pictures.
(taking several prints and layering them to look dimensionalized.)  I am
also looking for sources to buy the supplies and prints by Anton Pieck to do
these pictures.  I have only  found a couple and they are both out of the
US.  Does anyone know of any inside the US that will allow a person to buy
prints, etc.?  Also, am looking for others that do this type of craft to
communicate with and share something in common.  If any one could help, I
would really appreciate it.  I have no local resources available.  Please
email me directly if you have any information, thank you.

Hi Terrie,

I have seen something like this and it was referred to as "paper
tole"...not knowing of tole or paper tole work...that is about the best I
can offer, but perhaps this will help you in your search...I am not sure
what type of prints you might be looking for but sure someone here can help
you...

It has been a while since I saw this very imensional decoupage applied to
another item and among other things mentioned was wall paper border...but
have a feeling that is not what you are looking for. ?

best,

marye

oh yes, no doubt I saw this on hgtv, you might try their site search with
paper tole as the subject.

I did this craft many years ago and still have the picture
*** in my home. As I recall, you use several of the same print or
design. One you use as the foundation print and apply the cut out pieces
of the other prints to the appropriate place on the foundation. You can
cut the extra prints in any way you choose, picking out the parts that
you want to highlight. I found that using cuticle scissors enables you
to get into the very tiny areas of your design. To attach the cutout to
the print, I used small blocks of balsa wood that is used to build
models. If you plan to frame your work, be sure to buy a very deep
frame. Instead of using glass in my piece, I used a clear piece of
heavy, stiff plastic. You can vary the depth of your piece by using
differnt lengths of the balsa connectors. Hope that this helps.
