Sometimes Aleene's does recommend
using a glue gun in addition to using the Thick Designer Tacky Glue, for
an instant hold. But, on its own a glue gun is basically useless!

Yes, Aleene's wood glue or if you can't find that use Aleene's Designer
Glue and leave the lid off for a least 5 min. and it will get very tacky
making it stick good.  Do not use glue gun glues.

I am doing a project that involves gluing wooden spools and acorns onto
painted mini terra cotta pots.  Does anyone have a recommendation for the
best kind of glue to use?  The acorns especially are in exposed spots -
around the outer rim of the pot.
TIA!

Try polyurathane glue.
