Scrapbookers - Newsgroups / Mailing List

Post by RemarQ Us » Fri, 30 Apr 1999 04:00:00

I am looking for a newsgroup specifically designed
for scrapbookers.  Does anybody out there know of
any?

How about a mailing list specifically designed for
scrapbookers?  I'd like to find one of those also!

Have a great day - happy crafting!!!

Sue

There supposedly is one on msn somewhere.  This group can be used for all
scrapbook discussion.  Just start and we all come out of the woodwork!

What are you looking to dicuss?  Layout ideas?  Products?

There are a bazillion on www.onelist.com.  Just search for scrapbooking.
The only problem I've found is that most of them are filled with mostly
chat (which is fine if that's what you want), but little actual scrapbook
discussion.  Keep trying out different ones until you find the ones that
serve you best.

Hi Georgia,
Not all of us can access that group.  My ISP does not support that
group. What news service do you use?
I do look at the one on MSN a lot as well.

Thanks, karen

I'm not sure the 'right' way to word this, nor even the original poster for
sure...but, I do know that the scrapbook newsgroup is not considered a
legitimate group by many ISP's.  Don't ask me for the details, I don't know
them...I only know many ISP's don't recognize this group and therefore do not
give access to it for reading or posting.
typeski...IMHO

You're right.  Apparently, it failed its vote for creation, and then
someone went ahead and created it anyway.  Creating a newsgroup is fairly
easy, especially if you make an alt.* group which don't require votes to
create.  But ISPs won't carry any group in any heirarchy except alt unless
it went through a proper voting process.  Some will, but most will refuse
it.  And since newsgroups travel along lines (this ISP gets his newsgroups
from that ISP who gets it from ...), all it takes is one to veto the
improper group.

Not all alt groups get full carriage either, since they attract spam.  The
best thing is to go through the process again and try to get it to work.
