Just got back from visiting the International Plastic Modelers Society
convention here in Chicago. For five bucks, anyone can come and browse
through the display hall and shop in the vendors areas.

I went with the express purpose of checking out what sci-fi and anime might
be present, but was expecting the worst. However, I was pleasantly
surprised: there were a few kits entered in the display, including a very
nice pair of PG kits (a Zaku and the RX-78-2.) There were a few Wing kits
in the kiddie section, with the obvious lack of detail -- they were slapped
together and appeared to be painted with paint markers. Photos of the most
of the entries can be seen here:

The vendors had little to no anime kits; there was one who had a dozen or
so kits in total, ranging from SD to MG, while another had an old Guncannon
kit from the 80s. Nice selection of tools and finishing supplies, and I
picked up an assortment.

This one, listed as Unknown,

http://www.wolfkeeper.org/modeling/animeatipms/mvc-029x.jpg

Is a Dorvak PAM-74C DUNC & F-12 Cupid vernier unit, originally made by
Gunze-Sangyo.

1/24th scale, apparently originally some 600 yen.

Nevermann Sr. sent me some photocopy sheets of the Dorvak series.. glad I
was able to recognize it. :)

Thanks -- I knew it was a GS kit, but wasn't aware what series...
