Looking at my MG Gouf custom kit, I think you have two ways to do that.
One is to shorten the ball joint and neck piece. Cut the joint from the
bottom, shorten it a little, and glue it back on. Use metal rod inside
to add strength. You will need a pin-vice, drill bit, and brass or
aluminum pipe. The other is to relocate the socket. Remove some
plastic from the bottom of the camera unit so that the socket can sit
higher. Insert a spacer at the bottom of each U shaped area where the
socket should go. You will need a knife or small chisel, and s***
piece of plastic from the runner or a Evergreen plastic sheet. In
either way, I think you can omit the neck part.
