FanimeCon 2001: After action report

Post by Patrick Moor » Sat, 07 Apr 2001 02:41:01

Well I got back from Fanime last night, and had a blast, as I always do
at cons. The dealer's room was especially fun, even if I am broke
now.... Managed to get a bunch of good deals though. Snagged a PG Zeta
for 200 bucks.... MG Nu for 60... EZ8 for 30... basicly payed about
JMSRP for all the kits I snagged, except the MG Hyakushiki.... which is
to be expected given that it came out like... 2 days before the con...
I've now got a stack of kits nearly 6 feet high in the corner of my
room.... even though I once swore I'd never develop a backlog.... lol

Either way, I'm psyched about the PG Zeta.. and I"m thinking of building
that before any of my other PGs.... primarily because I can do it with a
single action airbrush....

As an intereting aside, my MG Nu Gundam contained a little flyer from
DHM detailing how to do candy apple paintjobs and how to scratch build
fully poseable 1/100 hands.... I know there was some discussion of that
a while back on the board... if anyone's interested I can try to scan
the pages so you gan host them on your page (Mark? Guiliano?).

Anyways.. what else... like I said I cosplayed as Char Aznable (or
rather Quattro from Zeta).... though to be honest I dont think that many
people recongnized me... not enough UC Gundam fans I'm afraid.... though
the actual Japanese atendees were after me for pictures.... lol

Well, I"m off to keep studying my PG Zeta.... trying to decide how I'm
going to paint it... thinking three tone grey.... dont really care for
the stock colors ;-) (do I ever? lol)

Hmmm, I didn't notice it when I peeked at my kit -- I'll have to look
again. I can host the images too.

Wow, I was thinking that HJ had the inside track on gunpla
pack-ins.

I would definately be interested in getting this scanned. Could you send

always, remove the NOSPAM before mailing (duh). I would really
appreciate this, as I am planning on scatchbuilding 1/100 articulated
hands at some point.

Thank you in advance,

G.

I just pulled the booklet out of my Nu kit box. The article on
scratchbuilding fingers is a subset of the four page article from last
August's Dengeki Hobby. The Sazabi in the metallic red is awesome though!

There are some other step-by-step articles, including some assembly basics
and applying dry-transfers.

Yeah.... I"m drooling over that Sazabi too.... Makes me want to build another
one..... Its just so cool how they shade the silver undercoat with black
stipling effects before adding the clear red coat..... and what I really like
is that that model, while *very* good, isnt finished so well that its
unatainable....

of the MG Sazabi, and askeed if the CCA DVD was subbed... lol
I was looking for someone in a Marimea uniform.... did you cosplay?
