IS THE STAMP TRADER LIST SOMETHING FOR YOU???
The Stamp Trader List (STL) contains the names & e-mail addresses of
stamp collectors & dealers who wish to establish connections & trade
stamps with other people on the Internet. In essence, it's an intro-
duction service with absolutely NO FEES OR CHARGES involved. It's
up to you to get in touch with someone who appears to have similar
collecting or trading interests.
The present STL is in six parts. The signon or login portion of
e-mail addresses is in numerical & alphabetical order & determines
the whereabouts of STL subscribers on the list.
The STL is now scheduled to be updated & posted to the r.c.s news-
group on/or about the 1st, 10th & 20th day of each month. All ques-
tions, comments & suggestions will be welcomed by me, and I'll do my
utmost to be prompt & responsive to all e-mail. In fact, if you don't
hear from me within 72 hours, there's an odds on probablility that I
didn't get your e-mail.
For newcomers, it will be appreciated very much if you will use a format
similar to those that appear on the most recent update of the list that
was posted to the r.c.s. newsgroup or that you found at one of the WWW
or FTP sites that makes the STL available to us.
I don't know if there's any such thing as a typical entry or listing, but
here's a current example:
Offer: Used worldwide (NO CTOs) |_____Canada_______|
Want: Used worldwide (NO CTOs)
Note: Would like to trade in packets of 100, one for one & would
prefer trading with partners outside of North America
It's highly recommended that you provide as much info of a general
nature as you can. Taking the time to have a WANT LIST & a HAVE LIST
available to e-mail or snail mail to other traders will greatly en-
hance your chances to become a popular & good trading partner if you
place a value on the time of others, as well as your own. Your home-
town & state, or country will be of interest to many. If you are a
member of a philatelic society, include that info as well, as there
will always be those who would be much more willing to trade or do
business with those who are members of an organized philatelic group.
The STL WILL NOT post detailed Want Lists or Have Lists. That's a
matter between the prospective trading partners.
You might not have anything available for trading purposes, but that
doesn't mean you can't list on the STL. It will be helpful if you
will indicate that you are willing to BUY or SELL stamps. Stamp deal-
ers are welcome to a listing, as long as they are willing to trade
****FULL NAMES ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL LISTINGS****
In today's highly mobile society, it's understood that there will be
frequent changes of address or changes of online providers and e-mail
addresses. Please be thoughtful of your fellow traders, and provide
the STL with any change of e-mail address, or a decision not to par-
ticipate any longer as a trader, in a timely manner.
In the case of so many college students, there's the matter of a summer
vacation to be considered. If this involves being totally cut off from
posting to the r.c.s newsgroup or your present e-mail address, please
let me know. If you will have a different e-mail address during the
summer vacation, please let me know. We don't have to delete your
listing if you plan to return to the same e-mail address in the fall.
Simply let me know what specific dates...such as June 15th to Sept. 5th
on which you'll be incommunicado
We would all do well to remember that some of us can access the Internet
with little, or no cost. On the other hand, there are many collectors
who pay handsomely to access the r.c.s newsgroup, especially those who
subscribe to the major online providers such as AOL, Compuserve, Genie
Prodigy, and a host of other commercial providers.
If you have any questions about protocol or procedures, please don't
hesitate to send any questions you might have to me at:
