Can someone make a recommendation for a reliable stamp dealer in the
SF East Bay area?  Any to avoid?

Thanks.

I'm looking for an answer to the same question.  After many years of
collecting, I am ready to part with my US collection before I travel &
relocate.  Can any Northern California collectors offer some suggestions?

If you are willing to travel to the West Bay, I can highly recommend
John Peters at Mr. Z's Stamp Shop, 1231 Burlingame Avenue, Burlingame.

I might recommend Stanley Piller in Oakland.  He is basically an honest
dealer and has been in business for good number of years.  He is also
known nationally and has published, and so has a reputation to maintain.
His address is: Stanley M. Piller & Assoc.
                3351 Grand Ave.

TWO good dealers that can cover the world are in the south bay.

Treasure Island on El Camino Real in Palo Alto (More than twenty?)

and

Fireside Stamp Company (Thirty + years of experience)
302 Town & Country Village
Sunnyvale, CA
408-720-9779

Both have a Good stock of the world, with Firside having the edge on
unusual material and a definate winner when it comes to covers, and back
of the book material.

Mike Campbell also does a good job of turning up interesting collections
and selling them "as-is".  I've built up a substantial world collection
that way.  Even better, he's been very good with helping my non-philatelist
wife pick out wonderful surprises for Christmas, birthdays, and such...

look up the bay area phone directory and you will find few dealsers. in
san mateo you can visit mr. z stamps and if you are large lot buyer you
can go to see david & felder in the sf downtown. if you buy japan
specialized material see sun philatelic in milbrae-burlingame, but call
them first because they are in asia most of the time.

i have not been very successful finding material for me in the sf area
because the asia material i am looking for is too hot in the sf metro
area.
