Leeward Islands curiosity

Here is the image of the stamps in question.  In the scan the usual (as
described in the Scott catalog) is on the left with the questionable stamp
on the right.  Since both stamps are on watermarked paper, they cannot be
essays (or can they?).
I have 1d King George V definitive stamps (Scott type A5).  Both
distinctly have the multiple crown & scrpt CA watermark (wmk 4).  One has
the value tablet with shading and outlined numeral.  The other has no
shading and solid colour number.  Going by Scott's description they should
both be Scott # 63.  Obviously since the design is different, they cannot.
Anyone know what gives here?  Is Scott in error or is one stamp and
error (or something else?)?  View at:

It wasn't a total loss anyway.  I did not have the 1 1/2d stamp in my
collection either.  The lesson here is don't spend all your time examining
the watermark when the real clue is the design (even if obscured).
Hopefully next time when I ask opinions, it will be of a nature that
deserves interest rather than a mistake.
